A six-city tour and 1,000 contestants later, ESPN Deportes ha selected six finalists to compete in its "Dream Job: El Reportero" reality series.

Joined by an AT&T Wildcard winner  - to be selected by fans via online- or text message voting - the contestants now move to the finals round, where they will compete in a series of challenges during three one-hour shows airing on ESPN Deportes. Dates for the shows' broadcasts have not been finalized, but these are planned for spring 2010.

The winner lands a job as a reporter for ESPN Deportes at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and takes home a 2010 Ford Fusion Sport.

"Dream Job: El Reportero" was first dreamed up in March 2006, tied to the 2006 World Cup in Germany and Austria. The eventual winner is now an ESPN Deportes anchor.

As the show's brand evolved, ESPN Deportes executives mastered the art of building brand awareness among fans and sponsors alike. The network staged auditions in Miami, New York, Chicago, San Diego, Dallas and Los Angeles - attracting sponsorships and brand integration deals from local businesses as well as national advertisers already working with the network.

In Miami, contestants had the opportunity to get their makeup done before the audition; the makeup booth was sponsored by Infinity Insurance. The insurer enjoyed a strong brand presence in a manner that was relevant to the entire event.

A practice booth where contestants could showcase their style before the audition was sponsored by Ford. Ultimately, the automaker opted for a full integration of its 2010 Sport into "Dream Job: El Reportero." A Fusion Sport supplied by a local Ford dealer was on display at every audition site. The car will also enjoy screen time during episodes of the show.

Additional brand activation efforts saw AT&T place two mobile phones on a platform, allowing contestants to phone friends and family to let them know how they were progressing in the tryout process.

ESPN Deportes promoted auditions for Dream Job: El Reportero not only "in network" but also through the use of Spanish-language spot radio and television buys in the six cities where tryouts are being held. The network also partnered with Major League Soccer to help spread awareness of the contest.
